Who is your counsellor

Sheromi Macken, BACP certified counsellor

Hello and welcome.

In our increasingly interconnected world, we encounter people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences daily. Yet despite this proximity, genuine understanding often remains elusive. My challenges became more complex when I had to consider the invisible differences like having dyslexia. This shaped how I navigated both my cultural identity and the world around me.

Cultural interaction is not just about nationality, ethnicity or language, it encompasses the full spectrum of human experience. Empathy in the cultural interaction requires us to expand our definition of culture itself. Recognising that neurodiversity including dyslexia, ADHD, autism and other variations represent its own form of cultural experience with unique perspectives, strengths, and challenges.

I provide support, guidance, and coping strategies in a safe, confidential environment so that you can live a fulfilling life. I believe that every person has the capacity to be the best version of themselves and I am here to help and guide you.

My goal is to promote personal growth, emotional healing and mental well-being by addressing issues such as stress, anxiety, trauma, depression, relationship difficulties and more.

I am a fully qualified counsellor with proven experience supporting children and adults. As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I am bound by its ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

My therapeutic approach to counselling is integrative which means I am able to adapt my way of working to each individual person be that short- or long-term therapy.
